Taking a Day Away

For most of the days of the year we have plans and obligations, tasks and errands.  And then finally the day arrives when all of that is left behind.  Far, far behind.

No Apologies

This is my version of  No Apologies.  All out faery photos, no balance, no relief.  Enchantment all the way.

Seems like the faeries are buying industrial-grade dragonflies to get around on.
I hope they come in peace.

These bright little beauties have taught me that dead-heading has its rewards.
They are full of blooms again.  A perennial that blooms all season.
Magical indeed.

I only had one foxglove this year, so it just kept its flowers forever.  Thank you.  Since last year's foxglove went to seed in great numbers, you won't feel so much pressure next year.

The surviving enchanted bean plant that was to take me into the clouds is still reaching for the sky.  Its matching sibling on the the other side of the garden has been magically turned into fertilizer --in the form of bunny pellets.  Yes, the whole thing!

In planning the garden next year I must remember that snapdragons have a mind of their own.  (No, I don't know where the actual brain is on a snapdragon.  But it's gotta be there somewhere.)  They grow tall and then curve and sit their pretty flowers wherever they want to be.  Wherever THEY want to be.

Deadheading gave me a big reward and so did saving the violas in the spring planters.  Instead of throwing them out when I replaced them with the summer flowers, I put them in the garden.  They have been blooming ever since and there are a zillion little baby plants too.  Hopefully next year they'll come up from seed right there.  A good save.

Hmm.  New neighbor?  Hello?  Anyone home?

Bug of Stone

I go out into the garden to get a few things done.  I see a cool bug and ask it to not move, do not move, while I run in to get the camera.  It doesn't move.  Even when I get really close.  It's so wonderful to have well-behaved bugs in the garden.
I didn't even need to put a quarter next to him for scale.  A bunny did that part for me.

And then, as long as I had my camera out, I did a little tour of the garden to see what was happening.

Remember the pretty little ranunculus?  Well, time passes.
Looks like a little nest of feathers now.  Interesting.

One of the new sun plants, Lobelia.  Planted it not quite knowing what it would look like.  Kind of brings foxglove to mind, with fewer gloves.

This tiny sedum just draws me in every day.  Yum, yum, yum.

The snapdragons are not very well behaved.  The bugs around here behave better.  But when one of them does stand upright and show off, well, they look kind of uppity.

But these don't seem be uppity.  Romantic, maybe?  But definetely not uppity.
