Sun Trumps Rain

I liked those raindrops.  They enchanted me and opened up a little underworld I never knew existed.  But I just have to say, sun trumps rain.

Raindrops Gone Wild

I know that raindrops look beautiful on petals and leaves.  Some garden photographers even spray the garden down before they take photos to capture the added beauty of the water clinging to the petals.  It rained again last night, so I decided to head out and find some pretty raindrops.

I am still in the very beginning stages of learning how to use my new macro equipment. Today I added a new macro lens filter and went out to see what I could find.  I learned a bit about some of the adjustments I will have to make for future ventures with this filter.  But the images I captured, although a bit grainy, still revealed some garden magic.

I found the raindrops.  They were so tenacious and so incredibly tiny.  I was amazed by them. So glad I plopped myself right down amongst the mayhem.  Although my jeans ended up a bit damp, I feel I was justly rewarded.

I call this one Ridiculous.

Creating a virtual bouquet, literally

I had such a lovely Mother's Day that I didn't get a chance to post a Mother's Day bouquet.  A day late, but I hope still very enjoyable.

Found some places the faeries may be living.  This looks like an enchanting possibility.

And I searched this area pretty thoroughly also.  I'm sure some naughty little pixies are just outside my view.

Heck, they could even be living right inside this tulip.

Feel free to take a good look yourself.  And of course let me know if you find anything.

Macro photography sounds like fun. It just may be harder than one would first suppose.

Over the winter I read a book about macro photography and dreamt about the garden again in bloom and the flowers just yearning for their close-ups.  I ordered some equipment and waited.  And waited. And now that there are some likely customers out there and the sky is nice and cloudy, I ventured out.  Today I tried the extension tube.  I just used one, although you can stack them up to three deep.  I took the deepest one and put my lens on top of it.  I had to use Manual, or at least I think I did.  Something I'm not used to doing.  But I got some shots.  Let's just say that I am posting these as a record of my first day out in Macro.  Let's see how the summer shapes up.

And so it begins

Days and days of never-ending rain.  And now some warm rays of sunshine.  All the ingredients needed for enchantment to begin.  Needless to say, I had some fun out there today.
