Welcome, Autumn

We can hide our heads under the covers and pretend it's still summer, or we can welcome autumn with open arms and an open heart.  When I decided to accept it, I took a turn around the garden to see what was popping.  There still is a lot of beauty to be had out there.

The ornamental onions are done.  No longer all purple and star-bursty.

But they're still beautiful, in an autumn kind of way.

And the volunteers at the base of the front steps even color-coordinated themselves.

The new clematis that the bad bunny chomped early this summer  decided to climb right back and be here to enjoy autumn too.  What a surprise.  Way to go.

And mums, when viewed from afar, look like a bunch of over-exuberant  pompoms.  But when you get up close, you can appreciate them as individuals.  Always the best way to appreciate our fellow travelers.

Now I could go for a nice warm piece of apple cobbler.
Or pumpkin pie.
Maybe some acorn squash with butter and brown sugar. . . .
Hello, Autumn!
